Day 77 - The Summer Plan

Slowly the process of returning to making sketches is happening. If it was a source of energy for me before then surely it will work again and once the ball is rolling with a few audio clips I then have a piecing together project. It could even finally give me some sort of reason to book a few days off, I don't want to work almost constantly throughout summer. Festivals, comedy and productivity - That's the summer plan. 

The plan is to make a miniature episode, not matching the previous half hour features. Once completed I will patch together a best-of episode. A showcase/portfolio of my work, if you will. And you will.

If the comedy outlet is proving fruitful I may put this blog on pause, after all the blog's purpose is primarily to force a way to maintain creativity and if I'm finding creativity in other areas, is there much point in forcing out some brief words when my heart is really invested in something else? Maybe, who knows, we shall see at the time. Maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to not do it. But equally, I've got plenty of stuff on here now which could be made use of in some way. I'm not sure how many thoughts I have left, demonstrated by my resorting to outlining my vague plans.

Barbie (2023) - Letterboxd Review

To what degree are you able to have an opinion on something which isn't aimed at you?  First and foremost I enjoyed Barbie; I thought it was entertaining from start to finish, consistently funny and had a perfect set production. Wes Anderson could learn a lesson from Barbie in managing to both create a visually striking semi-cartoonish vibrant world AND have an entertaining plot. It was probably the most I've laughed at a film in the cinema since 'The Disaster Artist' in 2017 (maybe 'Long Shot' in 2019). I also agree with the central message of Barbie to such an extent that I didn't bother raising my minor quibbles in the discussion during the walk-home (they weren't strong enough to outweigh my overall consensus with the film, which for my own safety, I will keep reinforcing). Safe (1995) - Letterboxd Review

As much as we are presented some level of understanding and guidance in life, the pursuit of contentedness in an isolated society is alienating. Fear of being a burden to everybody around you can inflict self-deterioration and once isolated from your own identify, all that is left is fear. Centred around a suburban housewife driven to self-destruction by a subservience, there is a dominant feminist theme throughout which remains true and strongly relevant to this day.
